I would like to take this time and give a review of the Coast Key Kill lanyard system. This is Ofc. Vezina with the Aventura police department marine unit. I was approached by Coast Key (Andy,) when we were building our boat with Fluid watercraft three years ago. I can tell you from experience that the system performs flawlessly. We use this system everyday and it has never failed us. The numerous functions the system allows you to do is incredible, from starting the vessel with the FOB, to the six digit code system. The real safety behind the product is the wireless lanyard, it allows the operator to move about the vessel, without having to be tethered to a kill switch. I can say from experience the Coast Key system works, I have been in the water numerous time and the system shut the vessels engines off very quickly. Once out of the water dry the FOB and your ready to go. I would highly recommend this system to anyone, who is operating a vessel on the water or in a professional capacity. Thanks again Andy!!!!!!

My name is Officer Arguelles, Golden Beach Marine Patrol, and I’ve been using the Coast Key system for almost two years now. I went ahead and installed the Coast Key system myself on our police vessel which was very easy given the fact that it is all plug and play. The ease of using the Coast Key system on day to day operations without having to worry about a corded lanyard is amazing. As a police officer on a boat, it’s very convenient to be able to move around the boat while on traffic stops or helping someone out of the water without the engines shutting off because of a corded kill switch and the peace of mind that if I do go overboard, it will automatically shut the engines off. I highly recommend any maritime agency to test and use this product.

Bootwerft Heinrich AG have since 2009 installed CoastKey in our Tenders. It´s important that our customers feel safe when boating. The wireless kill switch gives the freedom to move around, and at the same time take care of safety. Our customers are also very pleased with the keyless go system integrated in the remote. Besides the engine control, we have been using the additional remote control features on both boat types for controlling underwater lights as well as courtesy lights. This enables our clients to illuminate the boat from distance when they get back to the boat after dinner (darkness). We will strongly recommend CoastKey to other boat manufacturers.

We have found the wireless kill cord very useful in operating our RIB during science operations. The ‘crew’ often needs to help scientists in deploying their instruments and sampling equipment, bringing the divers and their material onboard and thus need to leave the wheel regularly. Since we can now move freely around the boat we don’t need to care about the safety function of a kill cord. The physical kill cord was most of the time not attached to the one steering the boat since it did not allow to move around or engines got shut down when trying to.

I always wear my CoastKey when I travel at sea. It’s reassuring to know that the boat will stop if I were to fall out - especially if I’m by myself. It’s also fantastic to be able to start and stop without keys - from the Start Panel or wirelessly from the FOB where I also control other functions such as tilt. This is what I call freedom and safety at sea!

Spending a lot of time on the water alone or with small children the CoastKey represents a step change in safety. Last year I had an incident where my 4 year old daughter fell and engaged the flybridge throttle while I was on the swim step stowing the fenders and ropes. I do not dare to think what would have happened if I fell over board and the boat kept going, I got lucky - she pulled it in reverse. The CoastKey is user friendly, represents no hassle moving around on the boat or in the docks and always works. I’ve not experienced any uncomfortable restrictions docking in the harbour or on the islands. All sailors have experienced Murphy’s Law on the water. With CoastKey, at least we can swim back, climb on board and go home with a story to tell.

Vanlig dødmannsknapp (med snor) forhindrer at føreren kan bevege seg fritt. Med CoastKey kan du gjøre nettopp dette. CoastKey brukes også som startnøkkel for motoren og man kan i tillegg betjene ankervinsj eller annet utstyr (som i seg selv er et godt argument for å kjøpe den). We were never any good at using the regular kill-cord, since we need to move around in the boat. The boat is on Autopilot when reeling in our catch, and in the event of falling overboard, it is very reassuring to know that the boat will stop. You will not last long in the cold waters where we fish. We achieve this by using CoastKey`s wireless kill switch. I always wear the Coastkey FOB and unlike the regular kill-cord it allows for freedom of movement. The ability to wirelessly start/stop and tilt the engine is also ingenious. Its’s even easy to install.
